CPT Sapienza

Captain Gerry Sapienza is an Assistant Professor of Military Science and the Recruiting Operations Officer at the University of Illinois – Chicago.

He graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science in International Relations and Arabic Language and Culture in 2008.

After commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation Branch of the United States Army, he attended the U.S. Army Flight School at Ft. Rucker, AL.

He served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and the S-3 Air Operations Officer at Ft. Irwin, CA. After receiving his fixed-wing aviation rating, CPT Sapienza served as an Assistant Operations Officer, Battle Captain, and Reconnaissance Pilot during a combat deployment to Afghanistan.

After redeploying, he took command of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 206th Military Intelligence Battalion at Ft. Hood, TX. In his last assignment prior to coming to UIC, CPT Sapienza attending the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course where he earned a branch qualification in Military Intelligence.
